This was probably my most productive and transformative week of the challenge. I don’t want to post too many pictures and ruin the big reveal, but the vanity is finally done and it looks amazing! The transformation started Friday night when my boyfriend and I removed the old countertop. Luckily it wasn’t glued in place, so I only had to cut through the caulk to remove it.
On Saturday I painted the cabinet, drawers, and the backside of the doors. The miracle of white paint never ceases to amaze me! On Sunday I finished painting the front of the doors. I used Behr Premium Plus Paint + Primer (satin finish) in Ultra Pure White to paint everything. It took three coats of paint to cover the dark wood, but so far there hasn’t been any bleed through.
Sunday night my boyfriend installed the new countertop. I’m glad he’s strong because that sucker is heavy and I never would have been able to lift it myself. I could barely even scoot the box across the carpet…haha. This is as close to a full shot as you’re going to get until the reveal. It’s definitely a rough shot, but it gives you a good idea of how the vanity is going to look. As of this picture I still had to caulk around the vanity, touch up a few dings in the wall from removing/installing the countertop, and of course, install the rest of the doors/drawers.
I’ll be honest – I don’t love the wall color with the new vanity countertop. Based on the sample, I was expecting to countertop to be more white and not as gray. I don’t have enough time to fix it for the One Room Challenge, but I’ll probably end up re-painting the walls (again!). I’m hoping I just need to get used to it and it’ll grow on me because I really don’t want to paint this room for a third time.
Let’s take one last look at the to-do list before next week’s reveal! There’s still plenty of work and shopping left to do, but I’m feeling good about this last week!
Fix Original Drawer and Add Drawer Front

ReplyDeleteYou have been working hard and your new bathroom look is great. I think you will enjoy the paint color. I did not like a color I chose for a bedroom and left it. It did grow on me. Look forward to the grand reveal.
