Weekend Junk #21

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since my last Weekend Junk post! I’ve been on a serious decluttering kick for the past few months, so I’m trying to not buy anything that I don’t already have a place/need for. I really just want to be more conscious of the items I bring into the house. Anyway, I’ve been keeping track of my recent thrift store purchases, so today I want to share my finds.

You guys! I found not one, but two pairs of Rothy’s at Goodwill last week! They’re barely worn and in amazing condition. They were marked $4.99/each, but I had a 20%-off coupon, so I only paid $4!!! If you don’t know what Rothy’s are, they’re flats made from recycled plastic water bottles! I know that probably sounds crazy, but you can read more about it here. Of course they don’t feel (or look) like plastic water bottles, they have a knitted, weaved look/texture to them.

I’ve heard so many good things about them and I always see them recommended for people looking for comfortable flats, but they’re $125. I wear flats at work, so I would definitely pay that for a stylish, yet comfortable pair, but I just never wanted to mess with ordering them and possibly returning them. So to find 2 pairs in my size is the best thing ever!

My next find is this light blue vintage Pyrex loaf pan ($2.99 at Goodwill). It has #913 on the bottom and from the little bit of research that I’ve done, I think it’s from the 1950s and is worth about $45! Vintage Pyrex is my favorite to cook with though, so I’m not planning on selling it. I have a couple sets of vintage Pyrex mixing bowls and they’re the best. I’ve never tried one of their loaf pans, so I’m going to have to back something soon!

I mentioned above that I’m trying to not buy anything that I don’t already have a place for…with the exception of handmade pottery. I’ve been on a serious handmade pottery kick lately, so I buy pretty much every piece that I find (as long as I like the color/shape/price) in the thrift stores. My two most recent finds are this tall purple vase ($2.99 at Goodwill) and this small blue pot ($1.99 at Goodwill). The blue pot originally had a lid, but they didn’t really fit together, so I’m just using the pot.

And of course, it’s not a Weekend Junk post without some ironstone. I’ve collected a crazy amount of ironstone over the past few years (my entire china cabinet is full), so now I’m only buying special pieces. I found this little ironstone dish at Desert Thrift ($1.50) a few months ago and I had to buy it. It’s different than the other pieces I own and I love the details. We’ve been using it on the kitchen counter to corral all of the little miscellaneous stuff that ends up there.

I’ve bought a lot of clothing lately too. I think my favorite fashion find is a pair of Wit & Widsom jeans ($9.99 at Goodwill). I’m pretty sure they're this exact pair from Nordstrom and they’re seriously the most comfortable jeans ever! I love them so much that I even ordered a second pair at full price!

So those are my finds from the past few months. Has anyone else been thrift shopping lately? Any good finds?
