For one of our dates (from our Year of Dates) we took a day trip to ride the Verde Canyon Railroad. This was technically for our April date, but it happened after my April Notes post, so I’m including it here. I bought tickets for the first-class car, so our trip included food and a champagne toast at the start of the trip. The seats were also a lot nicer, but we spent most of our time in the open air car, so that didn’t matter as much.
Like everyone else, we watched the final season of Game of Thrones. I’m not going to post any spoilers, but I didn’t hate it as much as everyone else. I wish they would have done more episodes so everything didn’t feel so rushed though.
Earlier this month we went to Charleston and Savannah for vacation. I’d never been to either state before, so it was fun to cross a couple off my list. I think I’ve been to 27 states, so I’m more than halfway there now! Anyway, we had an amazing time on our trip and I’ll share a full recap someday soon. Also, I gained like 8 pounds on this trip because southern food is fried, full of butter, and absolutely delicious. Full post coming soon!
I was also able to cross off my goal of “Visit 3 New States Together” with our South Carolina/Georgia trip. I’m on a roll this month!
May Craft Day: DIY Summer Pillow Covers
Aside from reading the Stephanie Plum books like a mad woman, I’m also reading Minimalist Home by Joshua Becker. I heard him on Young House Love’s podcast a while ago and really enjoyed what he had to say. I’ve been on the library waitlist for his book since then, but was finally able to pick it up last week. Adam and I are both reading it, so we’ll see how our house evolves as we go.
May Movie: Long Shot
For Memorial Weekend, we packed up the dogs and went to Flagstaff to celebrate the long weekend. It can be pretty chaotic traveling with 3 dogs, but we had a great trip overall. We stayed at an Airbnb with a fenced yard and it was perfect for our stay. We went hiking, checked out the local breweries, and met up with the rescue lady that had Jelly before us. She was so excited to see Jelly and we’ll be forever grateful to her for bringing Jelly into our lives. Also, if you’re in Flagstaff, you have to try Tourist Home Café for breakfast. We had their breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado and it was delicious! Plus it’s served with breakfast potatoes, which is one of my favorite foods!
What was noteworthy for you this month?
